An easy recipe for crispy air fryer chicken wings.

I absolutely love making chicken wings in my air fryer. This is my basic recipe for crispy chicken wings.  These wings are the perfect base for any tasty sauce you prefer.  If you keep prepared sauces on hand in your pantry you will always be ready to make a quick snack, a fun appetizer, or a simple meal.

Suggested sauces:  blue cheese, ranch, Thai chili, or Buffalo (made with Frank's Red Hot sauce)

If you don't have an air fryer try my recipe for Chinese Chicken Wings.

What You'll Love About Air Fryer Chicken Wings

Air fryer chicken wings are quick and easy to make. The preparation is easy and the cooking time is less than with a conventional oven.

Crispy skin. The skin on the chicken wings will crisp up without a lot of fuss.

Versatility.  Once you get the hang of it, you can change up your wings with varied spices and sauces.

Tips for Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Wings

What about baking powder?  You may have heard baking powder will make your wings crispy.  I've tried it and didn't find a discernable difference in my wings so I prefer to skip the baking powder.  If you want to add it, mix one teaspoon of baking powder with your spice mixture.

Dry your wings.  This is an essential step if you want crispy chicken wings. Just pat dry with paper towels.

Season well.  Make sure your wings are coated well with the seasoning mixture.  Season the wings in advance and let them sit a bit uncovered in your refrigerator.

Let your wings chill uncovered in the refrigerator after seasoning them.  Letting the wings dry out a bit more will enhance the crispiness of the wings.

Don't crowd the wings as they cook.  Place them in a single layer in the basket of your air fryer.

Turn the wings over halfway through the total cooking time.

What to Serve with Air Fryer Chicken Wings

You'll want a couple of other appetizers to serve with your Air Fryer Chicken Wings. Here are some favorites.
Coconut Shrimp, an easy air fryer recipe.
Clam Dip with chips and crackers.
Parmesan Pigs in a Puff Pastry Blanket, a special twist on an old favorite appetizer.
