Simply replace the cup measurement with ounces.
Same recipe, just smaller.
Tip: Add the grenadine last so it settles to the bottom for that layered look.
How to Scale Rum Punch for a Crowd
This is where this recipe really shines.
The base recipe serves about 8–10 people.
Simple Scaling Method
Decide how many servings you need
Divide by 8
Multiply each ingredient by that number
That’s it—no complicated math.
Example: Rum Punch for 250 People
For a large party, I had a request from a reader about the rum punch measurements to serve 250 people.
250 servings ÷ 8 = 31.25 batches
Multiply each ingredient by 31.25:
Lime juice: ~31 cups
Grenadine: ~62 cups
Spiced rum: ~62 cups
Light or coconut rum: ~31 cups
Pineapple juice: ~62 cups
Orange juice: ~62 cups
For smaller (4 oz) servings, cut amounts in half.
A Quick Note About Ice
Ice affects how much rum punch you actually serve.
A glass filled with ice leaves less room for the punch, so:
Plan for a little extra
Or let guests add their own ice
Can You Make Rum Punch Ahead of Time?
Yes, you can, and you should.
This is a perfect make-ahead cocktail. Mix it earlier in the day, refrigerate, and you’re ready when guests arrive.
Final Thought
This easy rum punch recipe is meant to be flexible.
Make a single glass, a pitcher, or enough for a crowd. Adjust it to your needs and enjoy the party right along with your guests.
Please note that when preparing such large quantities, it's essential to have the appropriate containers for mixing and serving, as well as a method for serving that many people. Also, consider your guests' preferences and any local laws or regulations related to the serving of alcoholic beverages.

Made this punch but it didn't come out the beautiful color that you have shown. Don't know what happened.
ReplyDeleteHi. Hmmm..... My only suggestion is to check your measurements. We make this punch all the time with very consistent results. We usually use the products shown. If you are substituting other brands your results might differ.
DeleteI want to make this for a wedding for 100 people. How many bottles of rum do you think I'll need?
ReplyDeleteYou’ll need to do some math to figure this out. For one drink you’ll use 2 ounces of dark rum and one ounce of regular rum. For 100 people, each having one drink you’ll need 200 ounces of dark rum and 100 ounces of regular rum. Convert the ounces to liters to determine the number of bottles. Everyone will not have a drink and some will have more than one, so you’ll need to adjust the total ounces by some factor. I’m not a caterer, so I can’t tell you what tha would be. A caterer or liquor store might be able to help.
