Sliders for Dinner

Last night it was just Hubby and me for dinner.  We've had a hectic week. I know, your week has been hectic, too.  That's why this dinner suggestion is perfect for all of us.  Sliders...

Sliders for Dinner
Sliders, you ask?  That's so last year...

OK.  Come on...  Last year... this year... do you really care what year?  I'm just saying that when you need a quick and easy dinner, sliders can be a fun answer.  We all need a little fun in our dinner once in a while, don't we?  And sliders are both kid and adult friendly.  What's better than that?

I must admit that sliders were not part of the original dinner plan.  Well, to be perfectly honest there was no plan.  There was a trip to the grocery store looking for inspiration.  Inspiration came in the form of sliders.  Yes, cheddar and bacon sliders to be exact.

Do I have your interest yet?

Cheddar Bacon Sliders for Two
Making Sliders
  • 6 pre-made cheddar bacon sliders
  • 6 slices chive cheddar cheese, or the cheese of your choice
  • 6 slices of  red onion, sliced very thin
  • 12 slices French baguette, buttered
  • barbecue sauce, your favorite

Directions
Buy premade sliders or make your own.  Preheat your grill.

Slice the baguette into 12 rounds.  Butter one side and toast the rounds on your grill.

Toast Baguette Slices
Grill the sliders, approximately 4 minutes each side.  After you flip the sliders, baste with your favorite barbecue sauce, layer with sliced onion and cheese.  Cook until cheese melts.
Mmm, Grilled Sliders
Remove from the grill and place on the toasted baguette.  Serve with your favorite sides.  We chose a tossed green salad and our favorite tomato salad.

Sliders and Salad
 Oh, so good...

Tonight, make some sliders.  You'll be glad you did!

Enjoy!

Artisan Bread in Your Bread Machine

Finally. Artisan Bread from Your Bread Machine Yes, Really. If you want to make artisan-style bread using your bread machine, the secret is simple: use the dough cycle, then bake the loaf in a preheated Dutch oven. This method gives you a crisp crust and chewy crumb without any hand kneading. If you use your bread machine regularly, you already know what it does well. It mixes, kneads, and handles the first rise beautifully. It is a dependable helper in the kitchen. What it does not do especially well is produce that deep golden, crackly crust we associate with artisan bread. The good news is you do not need to give up the ease of your bread machine to get that result. You simply need to change how the bread is baked. Today I’m showing you how to use your bread machine’s dough cycle and bake the loaf in a Dutch oven for a crusty, bakery-style result.
