Hollywood Comes Callin'

It's not often that Hollywood comes to visit my neck of the woods.  The Hollywood crowd is here now, in top notch form.  Oh, yes, friends.  The "A" list has arrived.  Have you heard of Meryl Streep?  How about Tommy Lee Jones?  I told you...the "A" list is here.

Meryl and Tommy, yes we are on a first name basis, have arrived and began filming Great Hope Springs this week.  They are filming in Stonington Burrough, an historic whaling village in Connecticut, that is being made over to represent a small town in Maine.  Go figure.

I went to see what was going on their first day of filming.  Our little town of Stonington looks much the same as usual except that the production crew has added a movie theater, where none exists...

...and have changed the name of Noah's, a popular eatery, to The Nor' easter Diner.

The Nor' easter Diner, Actually Noah's

Excitement filled the air Wednesday afternoon.  The film crew was everywhere.  Police officers were everywhere.  Onlookers were everywhere.

The Filming Onlookers

Filming was taking place in an historic house diagonally across the street from this group of onlookers.

Wednesday's Filming Location

With not much happening, I meandered up the street to catch the views of the ocean.  You know me, I'm a sucker for water.  I stopped between two houses to capture this picturesque view....

A View of the Water I Shared with Tommy Lee Jones

A woman tapped me on the shoulder.  "You know, that's Tommy Lee Jones sitting on the porch,"  she said.  She was referring to the porch, just to the right of this scene, conveniently out of the shot.  I looked, and there he was.  Yes, Tommy Lee Jones and I were looking at the same lovely view!

A police office immediately approached, as well.  "Miss," he said, "I don't think they appreciate you taking their picture."    The woman, who turned out to be a local resident, and I both explained to the officer that I was taking a picture of the water, not the celebrity.  I even offered him my camera to review my pictures.  The officer decided it wasn't necessary to review my pictures.  Really, a paparazzi I am not!

Tommy Lee Jones plays the role of Arnold Soames, married to Meryl Streep's Maeve Soames.  Together, they are a married couple in need of marriage therapist, Bernard Field, being played by Steve Carell.   I hear Steve Carell will not be on location here with Meryl and Tommy Lee.  Oh, my...

Great Hope Springs is scheduled for a December 2012 release.  I'll be there.

  1. How interesting! I'll have to watch out for that. I love Steve Carrell, too.

  2. Handy Man, Crafty Woman, I can't wait for the movie to come out. Meryl Streep is my favorite female actor. Did you see It's Complicated? Loved it!
