Five Signs Fall Is In the Air

Brrr...I woke up to 49 degrees.  My fuzzy blanket was pulled up around my head for the first time in months and months.  The shock of it all.  From 82 degrees to 49 degrees in 12 short hours.

I knew it was coming, of course.  It always does.  Fall, I mean.  This weekend is actually the last full weekend of summer.  We will officially move into the fall season next week, but today if feels like fall has arrived.  There have been other signs besides the falling temperatures.

1.  My garden looks pathetic.  Yes, pathetic.  That is all.

2.  It is dark by 7:30 pm.  It depresses me.

3.  I bought candles at Bed, Bath & Beyond.  I always buy candles in the fall.  It's a thing.  With scents like acorn and fig, sweet cinnamon pumpkin and creamy pumpkin, who can resist?  I dare you to try.

4.  I went shopping to scout out the fall styles.  It's a habit.  I blame it on back to school shopping all those many years ago, but I still get the urge every September to go shopping.  Tell me you do, too.  Please.

5.  Nature is putting out signs of fall.  I snapped these pictures on a walk this past week.
Isn't the color of these berries beautiful?

And look how vibrant these berries are.

And finally, don't you want to just reach out and touch these beauties?

Take a walk this weekend to enjoy the transition to fall.  It is a feast for the eyes.

Enjoy!

  1. I am a fan of Fall, but I do hate the fact that it gets dark way too early. I plan to jog in the park today, so I'll have at least and hour to see the transition. Best thing about the Fall.....shoes and boots!

  2. Autumn starts my "fall" into SAD so I am not thrilled that it has hit us in the face so hard and fast. I am the same way, the 7:30pm darkness and the gloom that is still delaying the sunrises are causing me a slow ride.
Thank you for making me laugh because I also give into the August/September shopping binge. I get away with it because I married a teacher and I use the excuse that HE needs "back to school" clothes which, of course, means it's time to step up my wardrobe as well :)
PS..I second the comment posted by TheProDiva about the boots!
