We usually celebrate our anniversary in a low key way. This year was no different. With no real plan in place we decide to go to a movie and then to a favorite restaurant for dinner. The movie I chose was Crazy, Stupid, Love with Steve Carell and Julianne Moore. It turned out to be a good movie for a long-time married couple to see on their anniversary. Like Cal and Emily, Hubby and I began dating in high school and have been together ever since, soul mates.
Unlike us, Cal and Emily face divorce in their forties and its associated complications. Not to worry, romantics who go to see this movie will be rewarded with an ending that satisfies.
Crazy, Stupid, Love gets a Just One Donna - See It recommendation.
After the movie we went to one of our favorite local restaurants for dinner, Skipper's Dock in Stonington, Connecticut. We are drawn to this restaurant in the summer because of its location and view. Can there be anything better than sitting on a dock with warm breezes gently tossing your hair, looking at the boats in the harbor and watching the sun setting, all while eating dinner? I think not.
This is a seafood restaurant, located next to the docks where commercial fishermen unload their catch. Hubby ordered his current dinner favortie, Seafood Penne Alfredo.
He loves the generous portions of shrimp, scallops and lobster tossed with penne pasta and pea pods in light Alfredo sauce.
I usually order salmon if it is offered as a special. The salmon special of the day was a seared salmon fillet topped with a salsa made of pineapple, red and green peppers and red onion. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the salsa was a fresh, tasty accompaniment.
Yes, another year has passed for a couple of high school sweethearts, married for a long, long time. There is something to be said for crazy, stupid, love...and soul mates.
