Here's how to use your bread machine to make delicious pizza dough from scratch. Whether you're a seasoned bread maker or a pizza lover looking to try something new, this recipe is sure to become a staple in your kitchen. So, let's get started and learn how to make the perfect pizza dough with the help of your trusty bread machine
The great thing about making this pizza dough in your bread machine is that it is a make-ahead recipe and the flavor of the dough improves as you let it sit. This is the best bread machine pizza dough recipe for tasty pizza dough. I use a Hamilton Beach bread maker that I love but you can use this recipe in any bread machine.

Benefits of Making Pizza Dough from Scratch Using a Bread Machine

If you're used to buying pre-made pizza dough from the store, you might be wondering why you would bother making your own dough from scratch. Here are a few reasons why homemade pizza dough is worth the effort:

- The flavor is customizable. When you make your own pizza dough, you have complete control over the ingredients. You can experiment with different flours, herbs, and spices to create a dough that perfectly complements your favorite toppings.

-It's a healthier option. Store-bought pizza dough often contains preservatives and other additives. When you make your own, you can ensure that you're using high-quality, natural ingredients.

- You'll save money. Purchasing pre-made pizza dough can get expensive, especially if you're making pizza frequently. Making your own dough is a more cost-effective option.

- You'll impress your guests. If you're hosting a pizza night or having friends over for dinner, serving homemade pizza with homemade dough is sure to impress.

Using a bread machine to make your pizza dough makes the process even easier. Bread machines take care of the mixing, kneading, and rising for you, so all you have to do is add the ingredients and press a few buttons.

Pro Tips for Easy Pizza Dough in Your Bread Machine

Add ingredients to the bread machine in the order listed in the recipe.  The liquid ingredients go first.

Be sure your water is warm, not hot.  Water that is too hot will keep the yeast from working.

Use a flavorful olive oil in this recipe.  It helps to tenderize and add to the flavor of your pizza dough.

The powdered milk adds moisture to the dough and improves browning.  It also helps the dough relax making it easier for you to shape your pizza.

Rub olive oil on your hands to make it easy to handle the pizza dough.  Also, coat your storage container with a little olive oil.

Store your pizza dough in a container that matches the shape you will ultimately make for your pizza.  This will make it easier to press your dough into shape.

Tips for Making Pizza

Heat your oven to 500 degrees F.   I always use a pizza stone in my oven.

Press your dough into shape on top of a sheet of parchment paper. The parchment paper makes it easy to slide the pizza onto the hot stone in your oven.

Top your dough with your favorite toppings.  I like to start with a little tomato sauce, then vegetables, then meats, and finally, cheese.  I like a mixture of Parmesan and mozzarella cheese.

Slide the prepared pizza onto the preheated pizza stone.  (Ad)Using a pizza peel like this one can help slide your pizza into the hot oven. Cook for 10-15 minutes.
Lift the crust with a spatula to check the bottom for browning. The cooking time will vary with the thickness of your pizza and the amount of toppings you have used.

Suggestions for Making Pizza Using Homemade Dough

Now that you've made your homemade pizza dough, it's time to put it to use. Here are a few topping ideas to get you started:

- Margherita Pizza: Top the dough with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil.

- Pepperoni Pizza: Top the dough with tomato sauce, pepperoni, and shredded mozzarella.

- Veggie Pizza: Top the dough with tomato sauce, sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and shredded mozzarella.

- BBQ Chicken Pizza: Top the dough with BBQ sauce, cooked chicken, red onions, and shredded mozzarella.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to pizza toppings. Get creative and experiment with different combinations to find your perfect pizza.

Frequently Asked Pizza Dough Questions

Can you use regular active yeast instead of breadmaker yeast?
There are a couple of things to consider when using active dry yeast instead of rapid rise or bread machine yeast. First, is the amount of yeast. Generally, you'll need a bit more of the active dry yeast, about 1 teaspoon of active dry yeast to 3/4 teaspoon of bread machine yeast.

Secondly, it is usually recommended to activate the active dry yeast in warm water with a little sugar before adding it to your bread machine. You might check the manual that came with your bread machine to see if it is addressed there. I keep the bread machine yeast on hand because it is so easy to use.

Can you freeze your pizza once you have created it with all the toppings...like buying one from the store?
I have never done it, but you should definitely give it a try. Place the prepared pizza on a sheet pan in your freezer to freeze it first. Then wrap it really well in plastic wrap and then place it in a freezer bag for longer storage.

Pizza dough will keep well in your refrigerator for up to a week. I often make the dough in advance and then just make the pizza and cook it fresh. I think the dough actually tastes better if it sits a day or two before use.
